Understanding Bankers Fidelity
Bankers Fidelity has served the individual and senior insurance market for decades. Its current product lineup includes Medicare Supplement, level-benefit whole life, short-term care, lump-sum cancer and hospital indemnity coverage.
Policies may be issued by Bankers Fidelity Life Insurance Company, Bankers Fidelity Assurance Company or Atlantic Capital Life Assurance Company. The issuing company can change by state and product. That legal name matters because it identifies the company responsible for the policy.
Bankers Fidelity says it is not licensed to sell any products in California, Connecticut, New York or Vermont. Other products have additional state exclusions. A licensed O'Neal Insurance Group agent can help you compare insurance companies and policies currently authorized in your state, but appointment with the correct underwriting company must be verified.
Useful Bankers Fidelity facts
- Medicare Supplement is designed to work with Original Medicare.
- Hospital indemnity, cancer and short-term care policies are limited supplemental coverage, not Medigap.
- Level-benefit whole life is life insurance, not health insurance.
- State approval differs by product and underwriting entity.
- The policy form and outline of coverage control—not a general website summary.
Products and state availability
| Product | Category | State guidance | County check? | Key limitation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Medicare Supplement | Medigap | Approved states on current carrier map; carrier lists 20 unavailable states | State, not MA county | Eligibility, letter plans, premiums and underwriting vary. |
| Vantage Flex Plus | Hospital indemnity | Numerous approved states on carrier map | State | Pays scheduled benefits; not Medigap or major medical. |
| Vantage Care | Lump-sum cancer | Numerous approved states | State | Covered diagnosis and policy definitions control. |
| Vantage Recovery | Short-term care | Selected approved states | State | Limited duration and covered-care definitions apply. |
| Vantage Secure | Level-benefit whole life | Numerous approved states | State | Death benefit, issue ages and graded/level provisions depend on policy. |
The current carrier disclosure says Medicare Supplement is unavailable in Alaska, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Massachusetts, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Nevada, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington and Wisconsin. Because the interactive map and disclosure can change, verify rather than deriving an “available” list from the exclusions.

Medicare Supplement coverage
Medicare Supplement—also called Medigap—helps pay certain deductibles, copayments or coinsurance left by Original Medicare. Standardized letter plans with the same letter generally cover the same core benefits, but premiums, underwriting companies, household discounts and administrative service can differ.
A Medigap policy does not replace Original Medicare. Medicare remains primary, and the policy supplements eligible Medicare-approved expenses. Medigap generally does not include outpatient prescription drug coverage, so a standalone Part D plan may be needed.
The strongest enrollment protections often occur during the applicant's Medigap open-enrollment period or another guaranteed-issue right. Outside protected periods, medical underwriting may be permitted depending on state law. An agent can explain the application process but cannot guarantee acceptance.
Hospital indemnity and short-term care
Bankers Fidelity's hospital indemnity product pays according to a benefit schedule for covered hospital events. The carrier expressly notes in its product materials that hospital indemnity is not a substitute for Medicare Supplement. Observation status, admission definitions, exclusions and benefit days matter.
Short-term care coverage addresses specified care needs for a limited period after a covered illness or injury. It should not be described as comprehensive long-term care insurance. Compare elimination periods, covered settings, benefit periods and optional riders.
Cancer and whole-life coverage
Lump-sum cancer insurance may pay a defined benefit following a covered cancer diagnosis. The policy determines which diagnoses qualify, whether a waiting period applies and what exclusions exist. It is not comprehensive cancer treatment coverage.
Level-benefit whole life is life insurance intended to provide a death benefit under the policy. It is separate from Medicare and health insurance. Review issue ages, health questions, premium guarantees, cash value, riders and any graded or modified benefit provisions.
Medicare Advantage, Part D and Special Needs Plans
Current carrier sources reviewed here do not establish Bankers Fidelity as a Medicare Advantage, standalone Part D, D-SNP, C-SNP or I-SNP carrier. Do not add HMO, PPO, flex-card or Part B giveback marketing to this page as though those were Bankers Fidelity products.
A Bankers Fidelity Medigap policy may be paired with eligible Original Medicare arrangements and a separate PDP, but a person generally cannot use Medigap to pay Medicare Advantage cost sharing. Consumers should understand which Medicare path they are choosing.
Medicaid, Extra Help and Medicare Savings Programs
Medicaid, Medicare Savings Programs and Extra Help are government assistance programs, not Bankers Fidelity policy benefits. Extra Help and Low-Income Subsidy are the same federal Part D assistance program.
An agent can explain how confirmed government assistance may affect coverage decisions, but the state Medicaid agency or Social Security Administration determines eligibility.
Part B givebacks and flex cards
This research does not establish a Bankers Fidelity Medicare Advantage Part B premium reduction or flex-card benefit. A hospital indemnity or cancer payment is not a Part B giveback and must not be advertised as one.
Part B premium reductions, flex cards, and other supplemental benefits are not included with every Medicare Advantage plan. Availability, eligibility, benefit amounts, approved expenses, and participating locations vary by plan and service area.
Guidance for veterans
VA health care, TRICARE, Medicare and Bankers Fidelity policies are separate. Medigap works with Original Medicare, not directly as a supplement to VA care. A limited-benefit policy may pay only when its definitions are met.
Veterans should confirm how Medicare, VA providers, non-VA care, prescriptions and emergencies will be handled. People with TRICARE for Life should ask TRICARE before buying coverage that could duplicate existing benefits.
